Graduating Seniors Proper Attire
Graduation is a formal event and therefore has a dress code. Clothing required for the graduation ceremony may also serve as interview clothes later.
All graduating students attending the graduation ceremony must dress in professional attire. Professional attire includes: dresses, skirts, blouses, dress pants (not denim jeans), and dress shirts with ties. Please note that students are not allowed to wear tennis shoes, flip-flops, or extremely high heels for safety reasons.
Males should wear dress shirts with ties, dress pants (preferably black), and dress shoes.
Females should wear either dresses or skirts (no longer than the hem of their gown) or dress pants.
You may wear sunglasses. No phones or purses.
Gown — Remove the graduation gown from its individual package as soon as possible to allow wrinkles to fall.
Pressing with a cool iron or hanging the gown in a steamy bathroom can reduce wrinkling.
The gown should be about mid-calf length; this may vary by a few inches.
Caps — Place the cap on the head so that the mortarboard is level.
The front of the cap is indicated on the inside of the crown.
Caps are never worn on the back of the head.
For graduation, caps should be worn parallel to the ground with the point in the center of the forehead.
Caps should be affixed with bobby pins if it will not stay in place.
Tassels should be positioned on the right.
The only extras that may be worn with your cap and gown are honor stoles, medals, and cords presented by the school.
